Vertigo Treatment in Farmington

This seven letter word is trouble.

Vertigo.

Vertigo is the sensation of feeling off balance, or that the room is spinning.

NOT fun!

Vertigo is often triggered by a change in the position of your head.

Do NOT try and "whip your hair back and forth."

Feeling nauseated, Vomiting, Abnormal or jerking eye movements (nystagmus), Headache, Sweating, Ringing in the ears or hearing loss are just a few of the signs and symptoms.

Before trying this at home see your doctor, if done wrong you will get worse.

There are three common causes...

BPPV, Stroke, and Meniere's Disease.

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo occurs when tiny calcium particles that clump up in canals of the inner ear.

This is the only kind of Vertigo that responds to Epley's Maneuver.

The inner ear sends signals to the brain about your head and body movements relative to gravity. It helps you keep your balance.

Sadly, BPPV can occur for no reason and it might be associated with your age, infection or head trauma.

Seriously? As if there wasn't enough to worry about as you age.

Our YouTube channel has a video on Epley's Maneuver.

Meniere's disease is an inner ear disorder thought to be caused by a buildup of fluid and changing pressure in the ear.

It causes episodes of vertigo along with ringing in the ears (tinnitus) and hearing loss.

No, the ringing in your ears is NOT just your imagination.

Stroke is the least likely, but the most serious. Strokes are caused by a blocked blood vessel or bleeding in the brain and need immediate attention.

If you have any other kind of vertigo other than BPPV, Epley's will not help.

If you think you might be having a stroke go to the Emergency Room right away.
